Sweet Treat

When the sweet tooth calls!

Just down the street, around the corner, and up one block is a little place called Amorino. I haven't decided if that's good or bad yet...I'll have to let you know later, but considering I've been twice already, it's probably going to be the latter.

City Streets

What a day...or should I say past couple of days. After a brief "what have I done" moment soon after I got here, I decided to set out and see the sights. Going nowhere in particular and getting lost a time or two along the way, I strolled down the winding, cobblestoned streets of Aix with my Cannon in tow.

Everything here is so full of character. From the ancient fountains, to the moss growing in the cracks, to the open market down Cours Mirabeau, each place and building has its own uniqueness that can't even be explained.

Aix is such a bright and cheery place. The sun seems to reflect off everything in just the right ways and when people speak I simply give a smile and a nod or two. But that's probably because I don't know what they're saying!

Despite the insurmountable number of blisters, I've loved every moment of capturing the city. Enjoy the visual tour!

Up in the Air

Today was one of those hard days.  The kind where you give goodbye hugs, wave from opposite ends of the security line while willing the tears forming in your eyes not to fall, and jet-set across the globe.

But those goodbyes...

No shame in taking a "see you in 6 months" picture with the dog. Sweet Albert! How could anyone not miss those big eyes and ears?

The hardest goodbye of all! It seems like their visit is forever away right now, but it will be here before I know it, and I can't wait.  So much love and support from these two!

We missed you, Livingston!

So there's that.

Next thing I knew I was on the long haul, overnight flight to Charles de Gaul where...
I ate the microwaved "hot chicken" dinner served on the plane.
- The lady next to me slept on the floor.
- I drank a liter of water before takeoff because the
the internet told me staying hydrated helps fight off
  jet-lag...a lie!

BUT I made it.

It's going to be a gradual adjustment, but here's to hoping the days get better and better.

With a good night's sleep, comfy sneakers, and the view from behind a camera lens how could they not, right?

My Life in Two Suitcases

BONJOUR!

In just a few days I will be leaving my beloved Mississippi.
Where am I going? Aix en Provence.
Where is that?  France.
What for? An internship.
For how long? 6 months.
Are you exited? Yes!

Are you packed? Good question.

My 3 page checklist is gradually becoming a reflection of what it actually is.
Really...it makes me happy to see all those checkmarks!

Then comes the moment of truth.
Do you really need 8 pair of boots?
I say yes.  My suitcases say no.

For now, I'll continue my strategic planning to get the most out of the space I have in my two large, yet too small, suitcases.

Only time will tell how this is going to work out...

Hopefully in my favor, of course!
